Cortisol Calm..

For as long as we are carrying pain from the past we will be suffering in the future..

Generalised Anxiety

'Every thought or emotion that you experience causes a reaction in a specific area of your brain.. Modern electronic imaging technology allows us to view the intricate dance in your brain's energies that accompanies your every thought and feeling. If you were to watch the screen of a brain-imaging device such as a PET scanner while you were experiencing substantial stress or anxiety, you would see specific areas receiving arousal signals that make the screen light up like a Christmas tree.

If your brain recognises a similarity between a distressing situation from your past and what you are seeing or hearing in the moment even though there is no current threat or danger-the same distress signals that you experienced in the earlier situation can become activated.

Although it may seem unreasonable, the emotional response can be overwhelming.. This basic sequence where a current situation activates an outdated response is at the root of generalised anxiety.

EFT shows how you can stimulate specific points on your skin that will send electrochemical signals directly to your brain. If at the same time you hold in your mind a situation that triggers an unwanted emotional response, you can actually shift your brain's response to that situation.

It is an unconventional approach, yet it frequently produces undeniable improvement in only one session and often works where other approaches do not.'

David Feinstein, Ph.d, clinical psychologist (The healing power of EFT and energy Psychology)

Where does anxiety come from?
And what stops us feeling naturally calm?

Anxiety generally has its roots in unresolved feelings from the past. The body stores these emotions to help us cope at the time, but if they’re not processed, they keep fuelling a state of anxiety in the present.

During traumatic experiences, the emotional overwhelm we feel often gets 'stored' in the body so that we can keep functioning in that moment and fight, run, or simply survive. It’s an effective survival strategy - but once the trauma has passed, those stored feelings still remain within us and we carry them with us until we find an effective means to process or release them. When these feelings are finally released, the body and mind can return to a naturally calm state instead of staying on constant alert.

It's important for your general wellbeing to learn to calm your inner world and reduce your cortisol levels .

After years of trying multiple therapies for his debilitating anxiety without success, Dr Russell Kennedy had an epiphany:

'Anxiety does not start in the brain.

Anxiety starts in the body, where painful
physical and
emotional memories live.

Alarm bells ring here, triggering the mind to
create the
thoughts that we call ‘anxiety’.

'The mind is where the soul goes to hide from uncomfortable feelings..'

- Dr. Russell Kennedy (MD), clinical neuroscientist, certified yoga & meditation teacher, author of 'The Anxiety Prescription'

Anxiety grows after trauma..

If you focus your mind on your body you will likely become aware of some heavy, uncomfortable - sometimes even painful - feelings lingering in the background. These are generally stored fears and traumas.

Because these feelings are buried deep in our bodies by the subconscious, the conscious mind doesn’t really understand what’s happening. So it scrambles to make sense of the distress signals it’s picking up and expresses them through anxious thoughts, fears and worries. Then we enter a cycle of reacting emotionally to those anxious thoughts, fears and worries that the conscious mind has created to justify the stored feelings in the body. This reaction is like throwing petrol on a fire - it amplifies our anxiety and distress, and gives the conscious mind all the fuel it needs to go crazy feeding and creating even more anxious thoughts, fears and worries. Sometimes, the conscious mind does know where the feelings come from. But in order to avoid facing the uncomfortable root cause, it creates endless distractions through overthinking, obsessing, staying constantly busy, or talking endlessly just to avoid what’s held inside. When we safely release these buried feelings, we make space to return to a naturally calm state of mind.
